Hi, welcome to Beachcombers-Journal, a blog written by PPKay.

Beachcomber: A person who walks along beaches looking for objects of value and interest, or collects bits and pieces of flotsam for souvenirs, decoration and ornamental use.
Flotsam

I’m Phil, an amateur photographer. After a career in engineering, at sea and in the local dockyard, I’m now retired.

Travel and photography have always interested me. As a child I remember being fascinated by a set of cigarette cards I was given depicting naval ships all over the world. My father and uncle told me stories of far-away places, with albums of photos and souvenir postcards. I would eagerly look up the places in my atlas and imagine going there myself. Getting a Kodak Instamatic camera for Christmas one year got me into photography. These things all sowed the seeds that set me off on my journey; an ambition to visit, see and photograph as much as I can.

Beachcombers-Journal is my scrapbook collection of photographs, souvenirs, interesting things and random bits, gathered during a lifetime of beachcombing near and far. I have a Flickr account to display my images. Beachcombers-Journal is my diary/notebook to record details of our adventures. I hope it might persuade you to go there too.

A special thanks to my dear wife, because against her better judgement she still agreed to keep me company on several of my more “off-piste” adventures.

Home is next to the river Tamar, near Plymouth, England.

Best wishes, Phil.
